It all started with a letter.
In late January I wrote my first letter ever to my legislators, explaining how important libraries are to me and how libraries all over Minnesota have helped me become a better person. After showing my letter to a few people, everyone suggested that I post it on my website so other people could have the opportunity to read it. I did, and posted it here on my blog, entitled Support Your Local Library.
Apparently, the letter I wrote to my local legislators has been making the rounds all over town, and even across the country to librarians and their patrons of libraries.
I hadn’t given it much thought to this letter, and had figured it’s time had passed. I was pleasantly surprised last week when I was contacted by a reporter for the Star Tribune. She had read my letter and thought it was perfect for the article she was writing about libraries having an increase in popularity in recent months.
Later today I am going to talk about how I believe this happened to me, and how you can learn from my experience if you ever want to get yourself in the newspaper.
For now, I suggest you read my original letter that I sent to legislators, and then go read the article in the Star Tribune:

Also, tomorrow on this site I will be posting my favorite library tips on how you can make the most of your library. If you would like to learn more, you can keep posted on this and other articles I write for this website by subscribing to my RSS feed by clicking here.
